Trunk Panel From The 16th To 17th Century
Central panel of a Norman chest dating from the very late 16th century or the 17th century. This type of panel served as the central element of Norman chests from that period. It was generally framed by ornate molding, with the front side panels shaped like fluted columns. Our panel features the motif of reclining nymphs, flanked by mythical creatures and adorned with floral patterns. This panel suffered minor insect damage and has been fully treated.
