Small Bust Of A Roman Emperor, 19th Century
Small bronze bust of a Roman emperor. This bust is likely a souvenir from the Grand Tour, brought back from a trip to Italy. It depicts a Roman emperor wearing a laurel wreath. His toga, draped over his shoulders, is pleated and fastened with a fibula. The bust rests on a pedestal-shaped base that is an integral part of the object. The back of the bust is hollow. Traces of gilding are visible in the folds of the toga.
