18th-century German Iron Door Lock
A lock plate made of cut, chiseled, and re-drilled iron. It features a hole where a knob was likely attached, as well as the cutout for the keyway. Six nails were used to secure it to the door jamb. Irregular in shape, they were produced by hot stamping. A humanoid head stands out on one side, and a wing on the other, ending in the head of a mythical creature.
