A beautiful, large shell cameo depicting a man dressed in 16th-century fashion, seen in profile. It is mounted as a brooch, set in a solid silver setting with marcasite inclusions. On the back is a silversmith’s hallmark that we have not been able to identify. Made in France in the late 19th century.

Beautifully crafted, very finely carved.
