Christ at the Column or bound Christ, bronze after François Duquesnoy, 19th century
Mounted on a square black marble base, this bronze depicts Christ at the moment of his scourging. His hands bound by a rope, Christ is portrayed with an elegantly proportioned body without compromising realism. He stands precariously balanced against a cylindrical column resting on a square pedestal. The entire bronze rests on a circular base attached to it.
This bronze is the same model as the one exhibited at the National Gallery of Art (ref. 2007.150.2).

This museum also possesses an ivory version attributed to Duquesnoy himself (ref. 2007.67.1.).
Excellent condition, light brown patina. A few minor chips on the marble base.
