Bronze Christ, hollow cast, 16th century
Produced in southern and eastern France, this model of Christ is typical of the French Renaissance. It retains an archaic representation of the torso, with a rounded belly and a prominent ribcage. The perizonium tied on the right hip is short, and the crown features a braided pattern. The internally rotated feet cause the knees to be slightly apart, while the legs are barely bent. The arms are almost horizontal, with curved fingers.
Excellent condition, light brown patina. The presence of a small protrusion at the back of the head indicates that it originally wore a halo.
