A Pair Of Kneeling Angels Carved From Wood And Gilded. Central Italy, 17th Century.
Artist: à Etudier
We include a certificate of authenticity with the sale of these works, attesting to their period and authenticity.
A rare and exquisite pair of kneeling angels carved from wood and gilded. The pieces were executed with meticulous carving by a skilled artisan, who not only imbued the devotional composition with the necessary pathos by tenaciously shaping the positions of the praying angels; he masterfully rendered details such as the faces, the thick curls of the hair, and the drapery of the tunics.
These angels belong to the context of the Papal States during the 17th century, at the height of the Baroque period.
The objects show no obvious signs of restoration and retain their original gilding. Unfortunately, over time, they have almost completely lost their carved wings.
The angels measure 26 cm in length x 25 cm in height.
