Mid-16th Century Two-handled Jar From Montelupo Fiorentino.
Artist: Atelier De Montelupo
An interesting, perfectly preserved two-handled jar from the Florentine Montelupo factory, dating from 1540-60, a period in which this type of jar was produced. Its handles were shaped like dragons and the intricate decoration of blue vegetal clusters on a white background framed the typical cartouche with a mask, left blank here, thus perhaps never used. This would explain the exceptional state of preservation of this ancient artifact.
The jar is 30 cm high.
A certificate of guarantee attesting to the age and authenticity of the piece is included with the sale.
