Large Majolica Vase With Historical Motifs—pesaro Manufactory—late 19th Century
Large late 19th-century polychrome majolica vase in a baluster shape, with a flared cobalt-blue neck and a truncated conical base.
Both sides feature hand-painted narrative scenes: a battle scene with armored horsemen and crosses, in the style of grand Renaissance compositions. On the reverse, a view of an Italian town with a castle and a river completes the ensemble. The handles, shaped like twisted snakes and glazed green, are characteristic of Pesaro production.
Good condition, with minor chips at the base of the handles.
Signed on the underside. A Neo-Renaissance piece in the grand tradition of the Pesaro, Molaroni, or MAP workshops, active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
