Interesting and rare octagonal frame from Rome, dating to the second half of the 17th century, containing a contemporary mirror.
This fascinating piece is characterized by its composition of various materials: the frame is made of ebonized wood, with carved edges in various styles, while the body of the frame features gilded bronze plaques decorated with a burin that frame and contain an oval marble inlay at the center. Each plaque features a marble inlay of a different type and color.
A bronze moulding with a phytoform decoration and a winged cherub has been applied to each side of the frame.
This piece, of rare quality in terms of construction and preservation of its original elements, still retains its original, antique mirror.
The maximum overall dimensions of this mirror are 42cm x 38cm, the external frame measures 30cm x 26cm, and the internal opening measures 19cm x 15cm.
