Italian 17th-century Lyre-shaped Writing Table
A beautiful walnut centerpiece writing table that retains an exceptional patina. The piece features two drawers and a simple yet elegant design, with the two small drawers finely molded with multiple orders of carving. The top is a single piece and displays an excellent patina, as does the rest of the table. A distinctive feature of the table is that it originally held the lyres in place so it could be transported while traveling. In fact, the lyres were attached to the table with unhooking irons, and therefore the carved ribs present today were applied later with antique wood.
The table measures 133 x 65 x 82 cm (height).
The piece is in excellent condition; any cleaning and patina work will be carried out prior to delivery.
A certificate of authenticity is included with the sale.
