Pair Of Finely Engraved Bronze Vases. Venetian-saracenic Ateliers, 16th Century.
Artist: Veneto
Rare and important double-handled bronze vases, finely crafted and engraved with elegant and exquisite vegetal and floral scrollwork motifs executed across their entire surface. The handles are of great value, extending from a mask of exquisite 16th-century style with finely chiseled female caryatids. Works of this type were produced in Venice or in the territories of the Serenissima by Eastern masters active in these bronze casting workshops—a veritable forge of talented sculptors, engravers, and goldsmiths from Eastern territories, driven by the mercantile power of the Venetian Republic.
