Couple Of Gilded And Richly Carved Palace Candlesticks, 17th-century From Central Italy.
Beautiful and interesting torch holders—palace wall sconces made of gilded, finely carved wood. These decorative elements were placed at the entrance to a courtyard or palace, given their size: 140 cm tall by approximately 70 cm deep.
The carving is rich and elaborate, featuring a succession of plant tendrils that give rise to vine shoots and bunches of grapes.
These are rare pieces, especially given their state of preservation; they are virtually intact, with the original gilding perfectly preserved, and require only a light cleaning at most.
