This piece was carved in the nineteenth century in the style of the famous Renaissance wedding chests. What sets this piece apart is the extreme meticulousness of the carving in the numerous classical and fantastical decorations that adorn the entire body of the chest. It features opposing satyrs, intricate patterns of candelabra, and natural and faunal motifs, while the four corners are adorned with protruding harpies serving as caryatids.
The cabinet is displayed on a base that is also carved.
