Victorian Sterling Silver Four-piece Tea Service By Atkin Brothers, Sheffield 1892

Artist: Atkin Brothers

A magnificent Victorian sterling silver four-piece tea service by Atkin Brothers, dating to 1892 and assayed in Sheffield.

Executed in an elegant shaped oblong form, the set comprises a hot water pot, teapot, sugar bowl and cream jug, all richly engraved with refined floral swags and vacant cartouches. The engraving is crisp and well balanced throughout, with beautifully arranged garlands framing the central reserves, left intentionally blank for personalisation.

The design reflects the refined late Victorian taste, combining architectural structure with soft curvature. The proportions across all four pieces are harmonious, and the set displays a strong sense of unity in both decoration and form. The harp handles are well shaped and comfortable in the hand, while both pots remain fully functional and hold liquid without leakage, a particularly desirable practical feature.

The interiors of the sugar bowl and cream jug retain a warm gilt finish, which adds richness to the presentation and enhances their visual appeal. The surfaces remain bright and reflective, giving the service excellent cabinet presence as well as practical usability.
