"Rare Minton Go-to-bed Candlestick, C.1820"
Antique English porcelain chamberstick by Minton,
c.1820. Tree-form stem with ring handle and leaf drip tray; small candle cup
above; girl with basket of flowers to the front; applied blossoms on a rococo
base. Clean white glaze and the classic “Minton” face. Bears a
crossed-swords-type painted mark in blue, a very rare early Minton detail
recorded in the 1820s. Old label shadow to the underside. Collectors prize the
early date, compact go-to-bed format and intact floral work—an excellent, rare
and antique cabinet piece for a focused Minton or early English porcelain
collection.
Condition: candle cup slightly loose; otherwise very good antique condition
with minimal handling to petals.
