"Niderviller Porcelain Figure Group Of Two Boys, C.1815"
French hard-paste porcelain group by
Niderviller, c.1815, two boys in playful struggle on a rocky base painted in
bright greens and ochres. Lively modelling, warm flesh tones and crisp
detailing reflect the continental taste of the period.
Marks: unmarked to factory; underside with incised No. 44. Fully glazed inner
well with a dry footring, consistent with Niderviller practice in the early
19th century.
Niderviller, established 1735 in Lorraine, is represented in major museum
collections and is noted for its figural groups and biscuit sculpture
throughout the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
Desirable Niderviller group c.1815, valued for
its animated modelling, period colors and cabinet appeal.

Condition:
Tiny firing line to one leg; manufacturing firing crack to the underside with a
small rim chip. Otherwise very good antique condition, colors well preserved. Stand not included.
