"Antique Rockingham Porcelain Jug, Model 8376, England, Circa 1830"
A fine early 19th-century porcelain jug produced by
the Rockingham Ceramic Factory, Swinton, England, around 1830. The jug features
a four-lobed form with molded Rococo-style scrollwork, richly gilded and
accented in yellow over a grey-glazed ground with visible craquelure. The
scalloped rim is enameled with floral sprays on both sides. The loop handle is
foliate and fully gilt.
The underside is marked with model number "8376" in puce
enamel. This number corresponds to a jug preserved in the Victoria and Albert
Museum, London (C.93-1951), confirming the attribution and design.
This is a documented and desirable example of Rockingham porcelain at
its peak, notable for its decorative quality and historical provenance.
