Wedgwood Fairyland Ruby Lustre Butterfly Bowl By Daisy Makeig-jones, C.1914
A striking Fairyland Lustre bowl designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones for Wedgwood and introduced in 1914 as pattern Z4827. The design combines a ruby lustre exterior with an iridescent Mother-of-Pearl interior, creating one of the most distinctive colour combinations of the Fairyland range.
The bowl is decorated with gilded Oriental motifs, colourful butterflies and a central rose medallion, while the rim is enriched with the Pan-Fei pattern in gold. A partially worn Z4827 pattern number remains visible on the base.
Examples in this ruby lustre colourway were produced in limited quantities and remain highly desirable among collectors of Daisy Makeig-Jones and Wedgwood art pottery. The rich ruby tones and luminous interior give the bowl exceptional display presence.
