A decorative Japanese export pair by Tashiro (田代), Yokohama, c. 1920–30s. Ivory-glazed earthenware with fine craquelure, richly enamelled and gilt. Deep cobalt bands divide the surfaces into a pagoda landscape and a chrysanthemum garden with butterflies. Gold is crisp and unworn; the white chrysanthemum passages on the shoulders are particularly refined. Bases carry the red TASHIRO cartouche.
