Pair Of Glazed Ceramic Rooster Candlesticks, Signed A.g Roger Year 1948
Magnificent and rare/unique, pair of stylized rooster candlesticks in glazed ceramic, signed A.G Roger 48 under the base, to be identified, vintage workshop craftsmanship year 1948. A fine post-war production with a strong Art Deco aesthetic. The body is covered with incised feathers enhanced by hand-painted gilding, and the tail is a large spiral scroll. One piece in burgundy red with gold decoration, the other in cobalt blue also enhanced with gold. Very fine craftsmanship, reminiscent of Vallauris productions of the period.
Height 19cm, length 17.5cm, width 11cm, diameter of candle opening approx. 2cm. Very good condition. Note a small discreet enamel skip on one of the eyes of the red rooster and three slight chips inside the opening of the blue candleholder, very discreet. Approx. 800-900gr each.
