Rare Pewter Ewer - Montbrison, Circa 1700
Postage is free for shipments within France
*************
Very rare pewter AIGUIERE of almost cylindrical form with, molded quarter-round foot, flared spouted throat and C-shaped handle with three scrolls. It is adorned with a fine corded baguette at the throat and middle section.
Control mark: C (crowned) / MO(NBRIS)ON.
Height: 22.5 cm.
MONTBRISON, Late 17th or early 18th c.
Exceptional first finding in half a century of this type of object for this small Rhône center bordering Auvergne.
In very good condition, brilliant, a tiny local consolidation at the junction of the base and the knot is however reported.
The last shot shows, with yelow circled, the same control hallmark previously found on a dish "à la cardinal" offering a complementary reading to the one affixed to this ewer.
