CIMARRE pewter vessel in a baluster shape with a dynamic, molded base, quarter-round throat, lid and thumbhole with tassels, featuring a fixed handle and a dangling handle with attachments depicting a human mask with a ruff. 
Hallmark of Rémi TISSET, who became a master around 1760: crowned hammer / fleur-de-lis / R.T.
Height: 27.3 cm.
MONTIER-EN-DER, Last third of the 18th century.

In perfect condition and clearly hallmarked.
These medieval-inspired cimarres were used for serving wine at receptions, where they replaced pitchers. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the vast majority of them were made in the Champagne region.
