Meissen Marcolini Period Porcelain Saucer, Blue Ribbon Border, C. 1774–1814
A finely made Meissen porcelain saucer from the Marcolini period, dating to circa 1774–1814. The centre is painted with a delicate still-life of fruit, vegetables and scattered flowers, executed in finely controlled polychrome enamels. The cavetto is enclosed by a distinctive blue ribbon-twist border with gilded accents.
The underside bears the underglaze blue crossed swords with star, identifying the Marcolini period. During the directorship of Count Camillo Marcolini, Meissen production shifted toward a more refined and balanced decorative language, with increased emphasis on clarity and the white porcelain ground.
A characteristic late 18th-century Meissen piece, notable for its elegant restraint and well-presed decoration.
