Silver filigree reliquary - relic of Saint Anne - 18th century - Italy
Filigree silver devotional reliquary, oval in shape, with openwork decoration of scrolls and foliage of great finesse of execution.
Description
In the center is a bone relic (ex ossibus) set against a red textile background, framed by gilded paperolles.
Two handwritten bands clearly identify the relic: "S. Anna" and "A.B.M.V." Anna Beata Mater Virginis (Saint Anne, mother of the Virgin Mary).
The reverse retains its original closure system, sealed with red silk threads and intact ecclesiastical wax seal, guaranteeing the reliquary's authenticity and integrity.
Condition:
Good overall condition, slight watermark deformations and wear from use, antique seal partially fragmented but present.
In accordance with canon law (can. 1190 §1), this sale concerns only the reliquary as an object of sacred art. The relics it contains are not the object of the transaction, but are included gratis for their historical and cultural value.
