Pair Of Diana Busts In Patinated Regula - Late 19th Century.
Pair of regule busts with gilded patina in imitation of bronze presented on velvet-covered pedestals from the Napoleon III period (worn).
In all likelihood, these busts represent the Roman goddess Diana, goddess of the hunt.
Inspired by ancient statuary, they could also be representations of Diane de Poitiers in the guise of the deity, perhaps inspired by the work of J. Goujon.
Total height: 20.5 cm.
(Patina wear, small crack on the back of the neck of one).
