Medieval Knight's Seal, France, 13th-14th Century.
A rare circular brown wax knight's seal, complete with its original attachment to two parchment tails, which was used to secure it to the document it once authenticated. The obverse is marked with a shield bearing three escutcheons, corresponding to the arms of the Bourbers family. In heraldry, this coat of arms is described as "or, three escutcheons gules," meaning a yellow field adorned with three small red shields. The reverse is blank. The Boubers family was a knightly lineage rooted in Picardy, a region where they were lords of lands situated between Amiens and Arras.
