Silver-gilt Chalice, Anglo-indian Or Chinese Work, 19th Century
A partially gilt (vermeil) solid silver chalice with a very rich, finely hammered and repoussé decoration of scrolls and flowers. The rim has a wavy edge encircled by a stylized frieze, and the base of the body is decorated with a Greek key pattern. The slightly flared foot is decorated with foliage. The interior is entirely gilt.
