Kilim Konya Muzumla. Anatolia. Circa 1900. 152 X 103 Cm
This kilim is a true work of art! Here's its story, or rather, how it came into our possession. Three years ago, I discovered this piece in a decorating magazine, I think. The caption read "Private Collection. Miami, USA." I immediately contacted all my friends in Turkey, all my contacts, all my suppliers. I wanted the same one, just as old, just as moving, just as captivating, even the same size. I had to have the exact same one! I remember that at the time, one of my friends advised me to go to Miami myself and ask the owner to sell it to me. In fact, the difficulty lay in the fact that it was practically impossible to find. I was sent a few photos of pale imitations, of similar, more recent pieces... Years passed, nothing. Until one day, a few months ago, when one of my suppliers wrote to me with these words: "I have it, are you still interested? Well, here it is! It's woven wool on wool. The weave and texture are incredible. Abrash patterns all over. Breathtaking, earthy hues. An ascending composition. Circa 1900. Perfect condition. Dimensions: 152 x 103 cm.
