Kilim / Cuval Fethiye - Anatolia. Circa 1960. 250 X 82 Cm
A very pretty Cuval originating from Fethiye in southwestern Turkey. Cuvals are grain sacks formerly used by the nomadic populations of Anatolia. This one has simply been unstitched and opened to form a piece to be placed on the ground or in a corridor. Often, these objects are made of two distinct parts. The front is generally worked and embroidered with motifs, while the back consists of horizontal bands in the same colors. Woven and embroidered wool on wool in the traditional way. Very beautiful, soft, and harmonious plant-based colors. Circa 1960. Very good condition, two small, barely visible restorations. Dimensions: 250 x 82 cm. Laurent Beauty of Kilims
