Kazakh Rug - Fachralo, Caucasus. Circa 1920. 245 X 147 Cm
To those who ask us about how to collect such antique pieces featured in the leading specialized publications, I would like to say this. Today, after more than 25 years of passion, our collection includes nearly 300 kilims and antique rugs. It took time. You have to imagine that for many years, the only way to admire such pieces was by reading magazines featuring works belonging to private collectors or museums.
Today, we are surrounded by major collectors and work exclusively with experts, enthusiasts, and certain museums.
That is how we are able to offer you this superb Kazakh Fachralo rug. The broad family of Kazakh rugs is divided into about fifteen distinct groups, among which the Fachralo stands out. It is their composition and motifs that set them apart. On this rug, the shape of a mirhab can be seen at each end of the central field, indicating that it is a prayer rug. Other hallmarks of antique Kazakh rugs include remarkable wool quality—soft and almost silky—as well as extremely deep and luminous colors.
The pile is approximately 1 cm thick for optimal comfort.
Two background colors share the central field: madder red and a saturated indigo midnight blue.
The borders, featuring intertwined geometric patterns, frame the central field, with each motif evoking a sense of protection.
This piece is referenced in the book *Le tapis du Caucase*, published by Office du Livre (see photos).
The carpet is in a state of preservation that borders on the miraculous.
Exclusively plant-based dyes of infinite purity.
A true museum piece!
Circa 1920
