Kilim Shahsaven - Persia. Signed. Late 19th Century. 480 X 180 Cm
Impressive Shahsavan kilim from Persia.
The piece is signed ( see photos ).
Woven wool on wool in the traditional manner.
The weave is extremely fine and refined, the piece is supple. The vegetal hues are extremely fresh, and the indigo blues are dense and saturated.
This is a marvel of striking contrasts, particularly with its large ecru ram's horn motifs
This type of dimension is extremely rare in antique kilims, which leads me to believe that this kilim was probably commissioned by its first owner, who undoubtedly belonged to high society...
Circa 1880
In very fine overall condition
Dim : 480 x 180 cm
