This ceramic box is signed by Claude Agier Molinari, a French artist renowned for the singularity and diversity of her forms, as well as for the richness and captivating character of her visually intense glazes.
The form of this piece is distinguished by a base that defies any notion of stability. The box appears never to rest entirely on the surface, creating a subtle effect of controlled imbalance, as if suspended. The staggered volumes accentuate this feeling of tension between mass and lightness, stillness and movement.
A textured exterior surface reveals a mineral, almost volcanic aspect, while the glazed interior in shades of turquoise evokes an abstract landscape. This combination of raw material and softness fascinates the eye.
The fitted lid is adorned with an engraved design inspired by cuneiform script, characteristic of
the artist's work.
