Kilim Shahsaven - Persia. Early 20th Century. 340 X 168 Cm

In a state of near-miraculous preservation, a magnificent Shahsavan kilim from Persia. Visually, of course, but also to the touch, the piece is a true marvel. The wool-on-wool weave is extremely fine and precise. The kilim is supple and surprisingly light considering its size. One immediately knows that this is a late 19th-century weave; it's striking. The vegetal and natural hues are incredibly fresh considering its age. It's likely that the piece was never used, or perhaps it was barely ever created! Circa 1900. Very fine condition. 340 x 168 cm.
