Kazakh Prayer Rug. Caucasus. Early 20th Century. 153 X 88 Cm
A moving Kazakh prayer rug produced in the Caucasus at the beginning of the 20th century. Woven and knotted wool on wool in the traditional manner. Typical of ancient Caucasian knotted knots, the pile is short. The piece is supple and lightweight. The quality of the wool is remarkable, very soft to the touch. A characteristic mihrab motif adorns the upper section. The dimensions are also perfectly suited to prayer rugs. Extremely fine and tight weaving. The colors are both soft and luminous in perfect harmony. Excellent condition. Circa 1930-1940. Dimensions: 153 x 88 cm. Laurent Beauty of Kilims
