Thieulin painted this view of the Seine in 1923. The very elegant composition is structured on the right by the bridge at Les Andelys and captivates the viewer with its striking perspective. Unusually, he signed his oil painting in the upper right so as not to disrupt the plunging effect. The minimalist brushstrokes and flat washes of color give this oil painting from the early 1920s an extraordinary modernity.
