Guy Pichon was born in Cherbourg on May 1, 1933, into a family of shipwrights. A devoted lover of the Normandy coast, his main influences were Marquet, Derain, and Dufy. From the tip of La Hague to Dieppe, he tirelessly explored the landscapes and shores of the region: churches and beaches, boats, water, skies, clouds, banks with their shifting reflections and colors, and small figures barely sketched in the style of Marquet. A member of the Salon des Indépendants in Paris and the Salon des Indépendants Normands, he regularly participated in exhibitions and events. He died in Rouen in 2007.
