Franck Innocent - Still Life With Oranges And Flowers
Artist: Franck Innocent (1912-1983)
Franck Innocent (1912-1983) - Still Life with Oranges and Flowers, 1941.
Oil on canvas, signed and dated lower right. Gilt frame.
Artwork: 60 x 75.5 cm; with frame: 73.5 x 86.7 cm.
A student of Marcel Couchaux, Franck Innocent (1912-1983) was a member of the Rouen Artists Society from the age of 15. In 1936, he held his first exhibition at the Galerie Legrip in Rouen. A favorite painter and friend of Hervé Bazin, the latter noted his quality as a "super-creator," capable of providing a personal vision in his painting and placing the materiality of the things he represented above all else. Innocent thus proceeded by touches, like a fragmented puzzle that he reassembled with his brush at the end.
In this large still life painted in 1941, the year of his second solo exhibition in Rouen, the artist chose a classical theme. The treatment of the reflection visible on the furniture is of very high quality.
