Jean Thieulin (1894-1960) - Garden of Rouen City Hall.
Oil on canvas, signed lower left.
Montparnasse frame.
61 x 50 cm.
A painter of the Rouen School, Thieulin studied at the School of Fine Arts where he met Le Trividic and Fréchon. He exhibited three oil paintings at the Rouen Museum of Fine Arts in 1916, when he was only 22 years old. His painting, initially pointillist, gradually transformed into elegant compositions, often understated and restrained, structured by the deliberate construction of planes and the delicate choice of colored volumes.
