Jacques Maes (Ixelles, 1905 - Bernicarlo -Spain, 1968)
Painter, draftsman and engraver. Trained at the Brussels Academy with Delville, Richir, Montald and Combaz (1920 - 1924 and 1933 - 1934). Second Prix de Rome in 1930. In 1935, he created decorative panels for the Universal Exhibition in Brussels. Maes was one of the fathers of "animism". From 1936, he was a professor and teacher at the Brussels Academy. Between 1946 and 1948, he stayed in Peru and ran a workshop in Lima.
Works in museums Brussels, Antwerp, Ixelles, Louvain, Ghent, Mons, La Louvière and Tournai.
