A substantial floral arrangement in a vase, with a few freshly cut flowers scattered about, just taken from their wicker basket. The basket, complete with its lid, suggests careful planning to ensure the precious decoration arrived at its destination in all its splendor. The stone entablature supporting the composition, as well as the rubble wall in the background, are particularly well-crafted. Oil on canvas, signed lower right. Beautiful rocaille frame in wood and gilt stucco. In the center of the frame, a gilt metal cartouche bears the artist's name: Gusto Nicolet. Frame dimensions: 93 x 71 cm.
