Arthur Schachenmann, born in Altkirch (Haut-Rhin) in 1893 and died in Schaffhausen in 1978, was an Alsatian painter. A self-taught artist, he painted landscapes of the Sundgau region and still lifes. He was close to the painters Robert Breitwieser and Léon Lehman, who influenced his work. He exhibited regularly in Paris, at the Galerie Chéron, Drouant, and at the Salon des Tuileries and Salon d'Automne. His works are held in the Altkirch Museum, the Strasbourg Museum, and the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp.
