Important Louis XIV period day chair in oak and wrought iron. Late 17th century. This large and comfortable chair rests on a gracefully curved sheep bone base with an H-shaped stretcher. The straight, high backrest features a ratchet mechanism allowing for a wide range of reclining angles. The armrests are fitted with two superb pull-out handles, perfect for holding a tray for meals, reading, etc. The chair is in superb condition, with a stable and solid frame. The seat is very well supported. The upholstery is light blue cotton. It is slightly faded and shows some signs of wear, as well as a tiny tear on one of the armrests. However, it remains quite acceptable and does not require immediate restoration.
