Superb pastel portrait of an elegant, blue-eyed dandy, dating from the mid-19th century. This handsome young man, with his gentle and somewhat melancholic gaze, is seated in a gilded wooden armchair, the top of whose back is visible. The pastel is signed in the lower right corner, but the signature remains to be deciphered. It is framed under glass and presented with a mat. The gilded wood and stucco frame is in the Louis XV style, asymmetrical in shape, and very richly crafted. Please note that this frame has suffered several damages and therefore has numerous overpaints and old repairs/re-gluings (visible in the photos). The price reflects this condition.
