"Pair Of Cabriolet Armchairs, Transition Period, Louis XV / Louis XVI, Circa 1760-1770, 18th Century"
A very pretty pair of Transition period armchairs in waxed beech with a dark patina, circa 1760. These comfortable chairs have a violin-shaped back surmounted by a decoration of small flowers and foliage that delicately wrap around the back. This vegetal motif is repeated on the front rail of the chairs. The four legs are adorned with fluting. The seats are composed of soft down-filled cushions. Upholstered in Genoa velvet with a garnet-colored floral design and stylized foliage in shades of forest green. A magnificent set in very good condition, having obviously undergone some restoration over time. These chairs are compact and extremely comfortable. A very fine piece of work from the second half of the 18th century, circa 1760-1770.
