English Mahogany And Marquetry Bookcase, England, Glass-fronted Bookcase, Late 19th Century
English mahogany and precious wood marquetry bookcase, England, late 19th century. This elegant piece was crafted on a solid oak frame entirely veneered in superbly nuanced mahogany. Discreet marquetry of floral garlands and ribboned bows adorns the cornice and the three bookcase doors. A marquetry band runs along the entire perimeter of the piece, including each of its feet. The bookcase has three lockable doors; the central door is glazed (antique glass) and features a harmonious arrangement of moldings forming a central medallion. The bookcase includes several adjustable shelves mounted on racks. It can be disassembled using a system of lag bolts.
