Folk Art, Ribboned Cane In Carved Wood, 19th Century,
Funny ribboned cane in carved wood decorated with a flowered knot, popular art of the 19th century. This cane is reminiscent of the Christmas canes that confectioners made for the end-of-year celebrations, sweets very popular in Northern Europe and in Anglo-Saxon countries in the second half of the 19th century and whose origin dates back to the 17th century, in the city of Cologne. This large cane is in good general condition, only an old repair is to be noted on the top of the cane (refilling and installation of a consolidation staple) - see photos. It is very solid. Beautiful, very decorative object.
