Set Of 6 Frame Armchairs Stamped By Jacques Pierre Letelier

An important set of six large beech frame armchairs. The fiddle-shaped backs are molded with a beautiful shell flower in a central medallion, framed on either side by two scrolled foliage flowers.

The apron is also decorated with a large carved shell flower framed by two other scrolled foliage flowers.

The whip-shaped armrests end in scrolls and support removable armrests upholstered in petit point tapestry.

The arched legs are decorated with large flowers on the uprights and end with an acanthus leaf.

The backs and seats are framed, covered with petit point tapestry decorated with gallant scenes in large medallions and framed with colorful scrolls and geometric motifs.

Beautiful Louis XV work stamped on the LETELIER armchairs (Jacques Pierre Letellier père, master in 1747) and bearing the Jurande hallmark, with its 18th-century needlepoint tapestry.

The uniqueness of this suite lies in its number. It is rare to find six armchairs from the same suite with period needlepoint tapestry in very good condition.

Sash armchairs were very luxurious models that allowed the upholstery to be changed with the seasons. The needlepoint tapestries presented here were the winter upholstery, while the summer upholstery was silk.
