Louis XVI Period Secretary, Early Directoire, 18th Century, Speckled Mahogany, Cloverleaf Locks
Superb Louis XVI / Directoire period secretary in mahogany and speckled mahogany veneer, cloverleaf barrel locks, late 18th century.
Our cabinet opens to the front with four drawers and a flap revealing a theater comprising two niches and seven drawers. Very fine havana-colored leather, gilded with petit fer.
Front fluted mounts, toupie feet encircled with brass fillet.
Beautiful dark gray marble.
Our cabinet has cloverleaf barrel locks, the flap lock has its own key and is in working order. The drawer locks have no key and two of the cloverleafs are missing.
Furniture in superb home condition, two small veneer grafts are to be noted on the bottom of the flap (see photo 10). The rear legs have two very small, unobtrusive cracks in the woodwork (photo 11).
Very beautiful patina.
