"Impressionist School, Little Girls Fishing, Seaside, Oil On Canvas, First Half Of The 20th Century"
A beautiful genre scene from the first half of the 20th century depicting two young girls by the sea. The first, dressed in typical 1920s/30s attire, holds a fishing rod. The second, in the background, appears to be fishing on foot near a small jetty. In the Impressionist style, this canvas showcases a beautiful use of color and subtle gradations of pastel tones. Only the girls and the jetty are depicted realistically; the rest of the scene is entirely suggested by the interplay of color and light. The painting is signed in the lower right corner (Vedal??), but we have been unable to decipher the signature. The painting is presented in a modern, iridescent wooden frame that perfectly complements the colors of the canvas. The frame shows some minor wear around its edges (see detail photos). Dimensions of the canvas only: 65cm x 50cm
